Worthy Brothers of Monroe Council 1266,

I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all that helped put on the wonderful and successful Desert Meal of 2024.  I heard nothing but positive feedback from whomever I talked to last night.
Our DGK Dr. Jeff and his wife Jenni did a fantastic job being the chair people for the committee.

Please check out our council webpage for some pictures that were taken last night. See the tab that says Desert Meal Photos here....  http://www.kofcmonroe1266.com

Also, just a reminder, the cat will be away for a week, so I know that the mice will play (LOL) while I am away on vacation.  See you all next week when I get back next Saturday.

Please keep the family of the horrible tragedy that happened in Berlin Township Newport, in your prayers.

And because I hate to bombard with lots of emails, I will send my St. Patrick Day prayer to all of you today!

An Irish Prayer...
May God give you,

and a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends

and an answer for each prayer.

February 12.2024

Worthy Brothers of 1266,

A quick prayer for today....

Mardi Gras Prayer

Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for it is from your goodness that we have this day to celebrate on the threshold of the Season of Lent.

Tomorrow we will fast and abstain from meat. Today we feast. We thank you especially for one another. As we give you thanks, we are mindful of those who have so much less than we do. As we share these wonderful gifts together, we commit ourselves to greater generosity toward those who need our support.

Prepare us for tomorrow. Tasting the fullness of what we have today, let us experience some hunger tomorrow. May our fasting make us more alert and may it heighten our consciousness so that we might be ready to hear your Word and respond to your call.

As our feasting fills us with gratitude, so may our fasting and abstinence hollow out in us a place for deeper desires and an attentiveness to hear the cry of the poor. May our self-denial turn our hearts to you and give us a new freedom for generous service to others.

We ask you these graces with our hearts full of delight and stirring with readiness for the journey ahead. We ask them with confidence in the name of Jesus the Lord.

by Andy Alexander, SJ

Brothers of 1266,

The meeting minutes that were approved from the meeting this past Wednesday, from Dec 2023 have been added to the
KofC website.

We had an Exemplification this past Wednesday as well, we welcomed 4 new brothers into the council, Tim Ochs, Aidan Gutschow, Gary Beaudrie, and James DuBay.  If you know them or see them, be sure to welcome them into the council.

Also on the
Kof C website is a "marriage seminar" that the Worthy District Deputy asked if I would share with all of you.  If you are interested in this, please contact them.

Save the date.   The Desert Meal will be happening in the hall on Saturday April 20th, 2024.  Details as it gets closer.

I am saddened to pass on the news of the passing of one or our brothers, Ed Cook, he is known as the Rosary Maker.  His son-in-law Bill Terrasi has asked me to invite all to the visitation or funeral service.  We the council are NOT, doing the rosary.  He was relatively new to our council; he joined in July of 2022.  The funny story about him was when I called him to "welcome him" and said that we would have an exemplification next month, he told me..... You better hurry up I'm 92 years old!!  I will never forget that.  The link to his obituary is on the KofC website in the Deceased Brother Knights section.

Stay warm this weekend!!

Go Lions!

Worthy Brothers of 1266,

Thank you all that helped for a successful Goodfellow food packing and distribution event.  Packed nearly 350 boxes in about 2 hours on Friday night.  All deliveries were made on Saturday morning and hall was cleared out by 11:00 AM.  Much thanks definitely goes to PGK Jay Jondro for the great organization of getting the routes and box recipients list.  Thank you to PGK Joe Lamour for all the ordering of food, picking up the food from various places and keeping it stored in the closet.  Thank you to the SMCC students that helped moved tables early on Friday morning.  GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!!

Christmas Prayer
“O holy Child of Bethlehem,
descend to us, we pray;
cast out our sin, and enter in,
be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels
the great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide with us,
our Lord Emmanuel!”
Amen

The GK is planning on not being in the office this next week.  Break time for a week.  If something is needed, please reach out to me.

Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad!!!

Brothers of 1266,

A couple of things really quick today...

1)Reminder for this week Wednesday that there will be a Goodfellow meeting at 7:00 PM.  This will be a follow up from the paper sale and a get ready to pack and deliver boxes meeting.

2) I know I asked for help on Friday for Sat dinner.  I still would like to start on Friday afternoon about 2:00 PM both sides of the hall.  Also I did not include to help reset on Sunday for the bingo.  We could start maybe 10 ish.  I will be going to Mass on Sunday morning at 9.  If anyone wants to start earlier, that is fine.  I will be there ASAP.

Thanks Everyone.

GK Julian

December 3, 2023

Brothers,

Here we are in the first Sunday of Advent.  Couple of items I would like to bring up today.

1) Photos and videos from the Monroe Prayer Breakfast Mass on 11-16-23 can be found
here on the Monroe Knights of Columbus 1266 website.

2) The Grand Knight office has some boxed Christmas cards for sale, $8.00 each (only a few of these left from last year).  Also, we have Christmas magnets these are $5.00 each.

3) Time to ask for help..... As I have mentioned before the PGK/Clergy dinner will be this next weekend.  I am asking for help to set up Hall 2 for Mass about 100 chairs and altar set up and Hall 1 for the dinner, 12 round tables and the podium.... stuff like that.  I am hoping that we can do this on Friday afternoon about 2:00 PM, I would guess a few hours to set up (more hands equal light work), this way Saturday morning decorations can be placed on the tables and any last-minute details can be done.

4)  THANK YOU TO ALL THAT HELPED AT THE GOODFELLOW PAPER SALE!!!  Fantastic job to PGK Jay Jondro for such great organization.  Thank you to Lamour printing for putting the "newspaper" together.  Thank you to all the Hawkers on the streets and local businesses.  Thank you, PGK Shawn Piedmonte, for organizing the money counters.  Thank you to Rusty Krueger and the kitchen crew for serving a delicious lunch for us.  Thank you, Jimmy Christensen, for getting bartenders to work and serve all the people.  If I forgot someone or something, please forgive me....LOL
