Greetings Brothers in Christ, I pray this message finds you and your families well. I wanted to share a brief update regarding recent events affecting our Knights of Columbus Council 1266 Building Association. During the July 3rd storm, our building experienced significant power outages and electrical surges from Friday, July 3rd through Thursday evening, July 9th. As a result, we sustained over $13,000 in equipment damages and food loss. The affected items included the VFD blower and controls on the new HVAC rooftop unit for Hall #1, the motor and power contactor for the kitchen exhaust hood blower, temperature controllers for the walkin cooler and new ice maker, along with more than $1,000 in spoiled refrigerated and frozen food. An insurance claim has been filed, though our policy carries a $5,000 deductible. We also want to share that we have recently encountered some challenging cleanup and building return conditions following several hall rentals. To help protect our facility and ensure a respectful environment for all who use it, we are updating our rental contracts, fees, security deposits, and cleaning requirements. We do have photos and video documentation available for anyone who wishes to review the condition of the hall after these events. On a brighter note, many of you have likely noticed our new digital sign. Despite delays and complications during manufacturing and installation, our brother Michael Richardson was able to negotiate an upgrade to an 8 mm pixel pitch—providing a display resolution comparable to a home flatscreen television. We extend heartfelt thanks to Michael for coordinating the order and installation, to PGK Shawn Piedmonte for upgrading and installing the power feed, and most especially to GK Dr. Jeff Couturier for generously providing the funds for the sign from his brother’s estate and in honor of his brother’s memory. This gift is a blessing to our council and community. May God continue to watch over each of you and your families, keeping you in good health and strengthening you in His grace. The K of C Building Association is continuing to work to improve and enhance our facility to ensure our hall is always a primary consideration when clients are searching for a venue for their events. We are revising our rental prices and contract language to provide income to keep our doors open and hall clean and presentable after each event. We have made some improvements to our entrances including painting, new curtains, and new furniture. Also added new benches and cigarette butt disposal receptacles at the entrances. The new Hall 1 HVAC unit has been received and is in process of being installed. Our sign has been revamped and the kitchen and bathroom floors cleaned and resealed. Quotes have been received for the parking lot sealing and restriping and the contract will be awarded soon. The stove/fryer vent hoods and filters have been cleaned. We are still searching for a new Lounge Manager. Currently, Jim Christensen and Paul Jay are sharing the ordering and managing responsibilities. They have agreed to assist whoever steps forward to fill this position. Primary time slot that needs volunteers is 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Please consider volunteering to ensure we can continue to keep the lounge open and staffed for the benefit of all our members.
